President Rumen Radev paid a visit to the Bulgarian Orthodox monastery of the Saint George Zograph in Mount Athos, the head of State's press secretariat said Saturday.
Meeting abbot Archimandrite Ambrose, Radev said that the monastery continues to protect orthodoxy, pure faith, and is a pillar of truth.
The President emphasized that the monastery could count on the support of the Bulgarian state for its further establishment as an important centre of Eastern Orthodox monasticism and Bulgarian spirituality.
Earlier on Saturday, Radev conferred with the leadership of the autonomous monastic community in its administrative centre of Karyes.
On Sunday, the President visited the monastery library, where the seminal Slav-Bulgarian History is kept.
